Hello, I'm
Michelle.
I’m an amateur foodie. In my professional life, I’m an editor and copywriter. But once the laptop closes, I’m standing in front of the fridge, contemplating what to cook (and therefore eat) next.
Let’s be clear from the start: I don’t have any culinary training. What I know (or think I know) comes from watching cooking shows, reading cooking books and blogs, and doing what seems right. Sometimes, it’s wonderful and sometimes it’s…not. Calvin had the noodle incident and I had the flourless pancake incident.


These Are My Cookbooks
Admittedly, not extensive and perhaps a bit predictable. Gordon Ramsay (if you didn’t know I’m a bit infatuated yet, you will soon) and Jamie Oliver. Some vegetarian options, obviously. A quirky literary/library cookbook (I’m an editor and avid reader. How could I resist?). Most sentimental of all is my grandmother’s handwritten book. Try as I might, I just can’t get her pannekoek right, though.
This Is My Apron
What’s a home cook without a corny apron, right?
My fiancé bought it for me in jest, but I adore it. And you can’t get angry if it’s the truth. I have watched a lot of cooking shows.
Plus, it’s a practical item for the kitchen. It’s saved me from hot oil and spitting sauces. It’s also very convenient for wiping sticky fingers and leaving white flour handprints like you’ve been personally recruited by Sauroman.

Instead, I’m just going to show you how our household deals with the dietary cards we’ve been dealt.
Not being able to (and sometimes, not wanting to) eat certain foods doesn’t mean you can’t have satisfying meals that make you sigh contentedly.
I’ll also share some of my foodie favourites. Not just ingredients and tools, but movies and shows too.
